The trumpet is a brass instrument featuring three to four valves that can be used to alter the instrument's pitch. The Trumpet is the highest register instrument in the brass family. It is commonly seen in both Classical and Jazz musics.
The sound can vary depending on the trumpet's size and pitch and the embouchure of the player. The trumpet traditionally ranges from F# to Middle C.
Primitive examples of the trumpet date back to at least 1500BC. These examples were used primarily as audio signals for hunting or large groups. Trumpets were not used as traditional instruments until the 14th or 15th century.
