Johann Sebastian Bach (March 31 [O.S. March 21], 1685 – July 28, 1750) was a famous German composer, organist, harpsichordist, violist, and violinist of the Baroque period. His style was prolific and he is known to have composed over 1,100 works, ranging from hundreds of cantatas to suites for various instruments. He is regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. Some of his most famous works are the Brandenburg Concertos, the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Goldberg Variations, Mass in B minor, and Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
