Johan Julius Christian Sibelius (December 8, 1865 – September 20, 1957), commonly known as Jean Sibelius, was a Finnish composer.

Sibelius is considered an important figure in Finnish culture. Much of his work was influenced by the Kalevala, a compilation of Finnish and Karelian epic poetry, and other Finnish themes. Sibelius' best-known works include Finlandia and the Karelian Suite.
